THE WORD ALIVE

Acts 18: 1-11

Do Not Be Discouraged

H
istory has proven over two thousand years that the gospel of Christ has always attracted oppositions whatever it is preached. Paul has, by now, become accustomed to such antagonism. But even veteran servants of God can become discouraged sometimes. This was one of such moments for the apostle, Paul. He had encountered his own share of the persecutions and challenges. No child of God or even a man of God, no matter how experienced, no matter the years of faith and ministry, is ever immune to discouragement.
Discouragement is one of the lethal weapons in the hands of the devil to bring believers down. Thankfully, we are not left alone -God is always with us (v.9-10). Are you discouraged today and tempted to give up? Do not succumb to the pain, the shame, and the failure; and do not listen to the voice of the devil. Keep on living, keep on trusting God, keep on praying, keep on speaking, and keep on holding on to the faith in Christ. God has promised, "I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you." The enemies may attack but they cannot harm you, because your life is in God's hand.

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for Your promises to be with me always.
