YOU SHALL EAT THE LABOUR OF YOUR HAND

 Psalm 128

YOU SHALL EAT THE LABOUR OF YOUR HAND

After accepting the sacrifice of Noah after the flood, God initiated a covenant with the universe that he would no longer destroy the earth with flood and that time of sowing and reaping would not cease. It is therefore an anomaly for anyone to sow and not reap or to labour and not eat of it. The second verse of today\s reading  reiterates God's commitment to seeing that every man eats of the fruit of his labour. Now, for one to eat the fruit of his labour would imply the following: First, that one is profitably engaged - doing something in good works and in daily labour. Second, that the blessing of the Lord rests upon the works one does. Third, one would eat of the fruits of his labour.

God has not willed any man to labour in vain. He has not even called the house Israel to serve Him for nothing. The should eat and drink, and that his soul should enjoy good in his labour' (Eccl. 2:24). But God has reserved this only for those who fear Him. Do you fear God? Then be sure that you will not labour in vain. Hence, do not be weary in well - doing, because in due course, you will be rewarded.

PRAYER:    Dear Lord, Your fear in me, bless the work of my hands and enable me to eat of the fruit of my labour.
