THE END OF ALL THINGS

 1 Peter 4:7-11

THE END OF ALL THINGS

Have you ever imagined what the end of the world would look like? Contemplating the end of all things and the events that will subsequently follow is usually the reason for the hope and courage of the church. When we got saved, we were told that Jesus is coming soon, and that the world will also come to an end. Very true, and yet that understanding has never left us, because, it is the motivation we have for pressing on as Christians.

Bible scholars believe that Peter, the author of the above text, had the judgment of Israel in mind which apparently happened 10 years later, when he talked about the end of all things. The author, recommends the following, considering the impending judgment

1). be sober

2). Watch unto prayer

3). Have fervent love among yourselves

4). Be hospitable to one another without grudging.

As we consider the end of all things today, the advice by Peter Should be our focus. I asked the Lord few years ago, to tell me what to do to remain steadfast in the face of current apostasy. He said to me,

“Continue in the things you have been doing”

(Jhn. 8:31-32). I urge us to continue steadfastly in sobriety, prayer, love and hospitality among other as the end of all things draws near. Verses 10 and 11 urge us to serve the Lord and His church with our gifts, according to the grace we have received, not imitating others’ ability, and to speak as His oracle always.

PRAYER:

Almighty God, give us grace to remain hopeful in You, continue steadfastly in service as we see the end of all things approaching so we may share in eternal kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
